This year SETAC-AP is excited to provide a unique Student Program for the conference in Daegu. These activities will assist students to navigate the conference, provide career development opportunities and to expand their network. We invite all students to attend and apply for these programs.
Please read below for more information on the activities offered. You can apply for these activities during the conference registration process.
|Time||17th ~ 19th, September 10:00 ~ 17:00|
Visit the APSAC Exhibition booth during the conference. It opens on the first day of the conference. The location will be announced. This is a place where students can come to meet and talk to the student representatives of APSAC. This is a valuable opportunity for students in the Asia-Pacific region to meet their local representatives face-to-face. This will provide students with the opportunity to discuss issues and ideas to improve student experiences in SETAC.
This provides students with a valuable experience in learning how to chair conference session.
It can also provide students with an opportunity to gain more confidence in asking questions during sessions, as well as meeting new people and expanding their network.
If you are interested in nominating yourself to be a student Co-chair, download the application form , click here. (Please register before downloading and completing the application form)
Fill in the application form carefully.
Send application form to SETAC-AP 2018 Secretariat by e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) by 31st, July.
SETAC-AP 2018 will notify you by e-mail if you are a successful candidate.
|Time||Mentor/Mentee Breakfast 17th, September 08:00 ~ 09:00|
|Place||Interbulgo Yegrina Restaurant|
Students (mentees) are partnered with professionals and members who have been in SETAC for a few years (mentors) so that they can introduce students to other members to help expand their network and assist them to navigate the SETAC conference.
A breakfast will be held on the first day of the conference to introduce mentors and mentees so that they can continue conversations and meetings throughout the remaining 3 days of the conference.
We strongly encourage students (mentees) to register for this program because it is a great opportunity to expand your network and to assist you in feeling more comfortable at the conference.
We also highly recommend this program for experienced members; being a mentor to a junior scientist provides you with an opportunity to pass on your knowledge and wisdom about SETAC and a career in science, whilst also expanding your own network and maybe learning something new from the young ones.
During the registration process please select if you would like to be a mentee or mentor and fill in the information required by 20th, August.
* Application for mentoring program is only available by 20th August 2018.
* Students cannot be mentors, students are mentees and senior members of the society are invited to be mentors.
* Students OR any person who never attended a SETAC conference previously can be mentees.
* Long-standing SETAC members can be mentors.
|Time||16th, September 20:00 (following the welcome reception)|
|Place||Room 306 & Underground Café and Bar|
The student social gives students an opportunity to meet each other at the start of the conference in a more relaxed environment which often makes students feel more comfortable to ask questions and openly discuss issues or ideas. It is important for students to gain a network amongst their peers, as well as with senior scientists, because it is their peers that they will be working with in years to come. We strongly encourage all students attending the conference to register for this program.
* Please note that schedule and event information are subject to change.
You may register for each event by choosing each option on the online registration page.
We hope that you will make the most of the Student Program during the SETAC-AP conference.
